Year 2 - New Responsibilities

The first few weeks of a new term are always busy for the children and the teachers.

The children have had to learn new routines and, in Year 2 are given different responsibilities, for example, taking the completed register to Miss Carol in the mornings. These responsibilities are given to help them to become more independent, they are expected to do many more things by themselves, including taking care of their belongings and looking after things in the classroom.

We have started learning some very interesting and exciting things. We are finding out about the great fire of London in 1666 and have written postcards and diary entries. In science lessons we have been investigating the properties and uses of different materials and we have read lots of enjoyable stories, such as ‘Where the wild things are’ by Maurice Sendak. We have been learning how to spell some tricky words and already our writing is getting better and better. I think we are going to have a good year.
